Thursday morning, Buffalo Firefighters along with Sabres players and alumni will be at 7 corners throughout the city collecting money from cars during their morning commute for their annual Fill the Boot program. The proceeds are going to SMART (Spinal Muscular Atrophy Research Team). Find out which corners they'll be at and more about the great things SMART has accomplished at www.smarthope.com.
Magic!'s Nasri Atweh tells Rolling Stone that he wrote "Rude" in about 15 minutes because his girl was being rude. ''Yeah, it was a rough night, and she was mean. The next day, I was just writing: "Why you gotta be so rude? / Don't you know I'm human too?" That hook really stuck with Mark more than me — I didn't care. He kept saying, "You gotta write that song." I was like, "I don't like it." And then I played the hook for Adam one day, and he was like, "You should try it more happy." He was playing the guitar and I started singing this whole story. Wrote it in about 15 minutes — it just came out. So, yeah, there's an evolution to the song, but it comes from somewhere real. I think that's why people feel it.''
They've also been covering Stevie Wonder's "Master Blaster" and Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun'' during their shows.
Sarah McLachlan was soooo great to Star fans at her Artpark Soundcheck party, and then rocked the place that night. Yes it wasn't all sleepy music! Lots of rumors that the Beyonce-Jay Z marriage is nothing more than a business partnership right now, and that the breakup will happen as soon as the tour is over. A weekend piece in the NY POST called the relationship crumbling. Brutal writeup, but it all makes sense!
Magic!'s "Rude" is sooooo infectious. Hear it once and your singing "Marry that girl..." over and over. Perfect vid to take you into the weekend! And it doesn't hurt that they are from Toronto, and that's where they attribute their sound. You could certainly hear riffs like theirs all up and down Yonge Street as the neighborhoods and ethnic makeups change!
You saw her last week at Artpark in the rain, and you saw how FABULOUS she was last year at Starry Night in the Garden! And now Sara Bareilles IS Huffington Post worthy! Here are 8 reasons Why Everyone Should see Sara Bareilles Live in Concert because she is more than just simply sooooooo amazing!
Maroon 5 has released the tracklisting for their fifth studio album, V, which features their latest chart-topping single "Maps." Bringing it all back home, V features the return of M5's original keyboardist Jesse Carmichael to the fold, rejoining frontman Adam Levine, guitarist James Valentine, bassist Mickey Madden, drummer/percussionist Matt Flynn, and keyboardist PJ Morton after a two-year hiatus. Maroon 5's latest provides a sonic summation of the group's journey to date – capturing the essence of the earliest M5 hits through to their most recent successes, as well as providing a picture of its artistic growth into the future
Do we even have to explain why? The classic 80's movies, rockin' girl bands, and of course the perms! (Okay when it comes to the perms, what we're we thinking?)The Huffington Post reminds you why the 80's were totally rad!
The 2014 MTV VMA nominee class is being lead by Beyonce as she is nominated for 8 awards. The biggest being Video of the Year for her song "Drunk in Love," the duet with her husband Jay Z. Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran, Eminem and Katy Perry are all competing to win Video of the year against Queen Bey.
Colbie Caillat's new music video "Try" is all about girl power and feeling beautiful just the way you are! An interview with ELLEmagazine tells how Caillat is tired of being photoshopped! The video starts off by showing a bunch of women & Calliat covered in makeup and as the video progresses the makeup is slowly taken off to show how naturally gorgeous these women are.No need to hide these faults ladies, we all have them!(as written by Rob's Producer Alexandra, who is, indeed, a girl!)

I went to a memorial service this weekend. It was 90 minutes of pure laughter and tears. Almost felt like being at a Comedy Central roast. Hilarious at times. If ever a memorial service should be on DVD, this would be it. But the biggest thing I took from it were two quick lines:
Wherever you go, whatever you do. Make it a better place, and make friends.

-JT came on at 8:45...not a bad pre-concert wait...great vibe!
-Did a "We Owe The City of Buffalo" right after the first song, then mentioned "Buffalo" about 26 times...in the first half alone! Huge followup to his Fallon show apology including guaranteeing the "Jimmy Hot Stone Massage" about 7 songs in. Great stuff!
-The band was soooo hot. The staging is so intense, almost to the point of sensory overload, but just short enough of it to not be distracting. Justin has a GREAT voice...can do it all. I only wish we could hear it better. The sound is very muddled. At times his voice mix is so buried and bassy that the lyrics aren't clear. Not the worst concert sound ever, but far from the best
- Didn't sit all night...the most I've stood since a Springsteen Darien Lake show about a decade ago. Neither has anyone else. It's that type of show
-Staging is incredible, but lighting is a little on the dark side (by design). Just wish we had a few more bright, clear looks at Justin's and the band's faces.
-Incredible choreography. Justin is all sweepy legs! About 4x tonite I've thought "He looks like he's breaking into an SNL "Come on down to liquorville" sketch dance!
-The 10 minute intermision was a nice touch. Perfect length. Although for women, I think it's just enough time to get in line for the bathroom, but not enough time to actually get inside and do your business!
-Seeing LOTS of pregnant women tonite. One was mentioned by Justin and featured on the big screen. Thought from my wife: "I bet when the show was 5 months ago many of them thought they would still be able to fit into their fav party dress!" Looks like lots of wardrobe changes happened when he postponed.
-JT does a shot in tribute to Ralph Wilson! Who would have seen THAT coming? Another nice move to make the pain of postponing go away...as if it hadn't already!
-Awesome show! I can't see how anyone would think they didn't get what they paid for tonite. Justin was exactly as you wanted Justin to be. And that's all you can ask for! Although a cameo from Jessica Biel Timberlake would have been nice!
Paramore were just at Darien Lake, and could tell they've come a long way since you first started watching them. Hayley Williams tells Entertainment Weekly that she feels the same way: ''My advice for bands is if it's your first year, I would say nobody owes you anything. You have to have that mindset. Your job on the first Warped Tour you ever did is to earn everything that you get. When we did our first Warped Tour in 2005, we didn't get meal tickets, so we didn't get to stand in the long catering lines and eat the delicious food. We had maybe five bucks a day, if that, in per diem, and for the most part we would eat frozen pink lemonade or hot dogs that were being sold on the grounds. We had to write out all our flyers because some days our band's name wasn't on the Warped Tour schedule.
It's a lot of work, and I think it's so important for bands to go through that stage of their life, to earn everything and not expect for things to be handed to you.Because then when something does get handed to you—when someone does you a favor or someone bumps you up to a different spot that's better or busier or bigger—then you'll appreciate it. Or next year when you come back and you're in a nicer van or a bus even, you're gonna appreciate it. Earn everything.''
Maybe it' s because of what you're eating. Everything from ice cream to alcohol and salty snacks make the mosquitos come your way! The Daily Meal has all the foods that make you tasty to those obnoxious little buggers!
The Nathan's 98th Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest is this weekend and as you squirm watching participants chow down as many hot dogs as possible in 10 minutes realize that there are techiniques that go into this "sport". Some even have techniques named after them such as the "Kobayashi Shake". Learn all about how it is humanly possible to eat 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes as Joey Chestnut did last year!
