Everything in life is timing...and that goes for survival too. Watch what happens about half way through this interview with a tornado survivor in Oklahoma City. Thank God (and in this case, that term is warranted), the Field Producer had some great eyes, and was looking in just the right place at the right time. Happy Tears.
On the flip side, listen for the reporter to ask one of the DUMBEST questions of all time: "Are you able to comprehend what happened?" Are you kidding me? Sometimes broadcasters will ask an odd question just to get an answer that may be able to be used as an attention getting headline video, but this one set broadcasters back about 10 years. I bet it's being laughed about in newsrooms all over America. "Are you able to comprehend what happened?" Just dopey.
Women will love this latest ad trend...using hot hunks in TV ads. But seriously...hasn't that been a trend for like 20 years now? Sexy men are selling everything from salad dressing to cola, and of course shaving cream and drain cleaner products.
Prayers to the town of Moore, Oklahoma. So sad, especially when so many kids lives were taken while in school. It's looking like this will be the worst Twister death toll since Joplin Missouri in 2011. The one good thing about the following stats: You can see how deadly storms have become much less frequent since weather predicting models and alert systems have gotten better.

I must admit, I only watched about eight seconds of the 2013 Billboard Music Awards. There too many award shows and they all blend together.
Also, any show that give Justin Bieber a "Milestone Award" has simply lost me.
Not because of Justin, he's fine, but the his name and "Milestone" should not be used in the same sentence. Someone who has been in the biz 10+ years - that puts you in the running for a Milestone.
Anyway, from the audio clips we played today, and from what others are saying, it seems like a show that you watched for the performances much more than the awards. Kind of like the Grammys (and too many other award shows!). The winners are below, and you can find a link to the official Billboard Award page here!

A nice "feel good" watch for the weekend!
Earlier this week, I gave the new website for Canalside the Rob Lucas Seal Of Approval. The only suggestion I had to make it better was to add a parking map, because the number 1 question I get about the area is where to park. Yesterday I received a Tweet from the Canalside people saying that they had added a parking map to their page! Wow I'm honored...had no idea I had that much influence (yes I have some humility!) So I'm now giving the first everRLITM Super Seal Of Approval to the Canalside website! See ya down there! And most days...you can bring your well behaved dog!
This sounded like a bit much to me...losing 8lbs in 2 weeks. A safe, normal weight loss is about 1-2 pounds a week. But this is actually pretty good, and I can see how it would work. Lose a few for that upcoming social event or beach vacation by following theadvice and recipes from Health.com

It's no longer Thursday At The Harbor, it's Thursday At Canalside, and this years lineup has just been released! I must admit that when I first looked over the lineup I was a little disappointed. There wasn't one act where I said "I gotta see'em." But act for act, pound for pound, it's a really solid, varietal, lineup. I'm thinking the biggest crowds will be for Todd Rundgren, BNL's Steven Page, and the Yonder Mountain String Band, who have a huge on-the-road following! 80's fans won't wanna miss The Fixx, or Adam Ant.

Finally we got a glimpse of who Ted Mosby will marry in this past Monday's season finale of How I Met Your Mother. OMG, could it have taken any longer? HIMYM was quickly becoming one of those shows that you couldn't look away from, but you just wanted to say "get on with it!"
So who is the mother? It's Cristin Milioti. She's got a bunch of bit parts to her credit and will soon be seen in a movie opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. The New York Daily News has the full story.
Buffalo is a hot dog loving city. From restaurants like Ted's to Old Man River, to makers like Sahlen's and Wardynski's, people grab packages of hot dogs to take them back home when they visit, because they can't get anything even close out of town. And with all that, The Daily Meal has not listed one Buffalo dog in their top 35! Good for Rochester that they hit #4, but you gotta think there's at least one Buffalo dog that should be on this list. Which Buffalo hot dog do you think belongs on here?

Angelina Jolie Has Double Mastectomy: Angelina Jolie recently underwent a double mastectomy after tests showed she faced a high probability of developing breast cancer.
She wrote in the NY Times: "I wanted to write this to tell other women that the decision to have a mastectomy was not easy. But it is one I am very happy that I made. My chances of developing breast cancer have dropped from 87 percent to under 5 percent. I can tell my children that they don't need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer. I have always told them not to worry, but the truth is I carry a "faulty" gene, BRCA1, which sharply increases my risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
So to anyone who has a wife or girlfriend going through this, know that you are a very important part of the transition," Jolie wrote. "Brad was at the Pink Lotus Breast Center, where I was treated, for every minute of the surgeries. We managed to find moments to laugh together. We knew this was the right thing to do for our family and that it would bring us closer. And it has.
The cost of testing for BRCA1 and BRCA2, at more than $3,000 in the United States, remains an obstacle for many women. You wake up with drain tubes and expanders in your breasts. It does feel like a scene out of a science-fiction film. But days after surgery you can be back to a normal life. Nine weeks later, the final surgery is completed with the reconstruction of the breasts with an implant. There have been many advances in this procedure in the last few years, and the results can be beautiful.''
Over the weekendCanalside Buffalo released their new website, and I'm very happy to give it the Rob Lucas Seal Of Approval! For those who haven't been to the revitalized inner harbor, a website like this was sorely needed. I really like the touch of the "tipping canalside logo" when you wave your cursor over it.
If I had one complaint, it would be that the site needs a map for area parking. There are some written parking directions, but a full color map with identified paid and free parking areas would really help. I can't tell you how many people I've spoken with who have been in Buffalo their whole life and ask "Where do you park down there?" One of the challenges of getting suburbanites downtown!
A new study shows thats that men who play guitar increase their dating chances by 31 percent! Hey, the guy with the guitar gets the girl - how else do you account for Ric Ocasek marrying Paulina Porizkova!
Two business magazines I REALLY love are Inc. and Fortune. Inc. caters a bit more to the small business owner, Fortune more to major corporations, but both always have great articles for all walks of business life. I really like this quick read from Inc., 8 Things Really Successful People Do.
Is your spirit a little clouded? Do you need help catching up with the all the information you have to absorb? Successful people overcome those challenges. This piece will help you get over the hump.
Are you guilty of overusing any of them? For me, it's "Heads Up!" Probably because I grew up playing baseball. Although this list is great, I think they missed the biggest overused term, and one that drives me crazy: "It Is What It Is." Gosh I hate that! Too often it's used when people simply don't know what to say, and it's the equivalent of saying nothing, or stating the obvious. So please stop... atleast while I'm in the room.
You saw how mucky and messy it was for the Kentucky Derby. Lets hope the weather is alot better for the Preakness outside of Baltimore in two weekends because the Goo Goo Dolls are a part of the show. As much as the Kentucky Derby is about elegance and big hats, the Preakness is one big party! Think the Taste of Buffalo combined with a Thursday at the Harbor concert, combined with a major horse race. The infield at the Preakness is an incredible sight, and the Goo's will be performing there on what they call "Black-Eyed Susan Day." Rob Lucas says it's well worth the six hour drive from Buffalo.Click here for details!
One of our Twitter followers, @krissymay509, went to Scranton PA over the weekend for The Office wrap party and got to see the cast of the show. But the cast almost didn't show, because US Airways was AHEAD of schedule and left early with The Office cast in the terminal! Rainn Wilson brutally beat up US Airways on Twitter.Click here for the full New York Post Story.

I shouldn't be laughing at this, but it is hilarious! It leads to so many questions, did Eric give the girl a free balloon afterward? Was this a setup, with a child actor? If it's not a child actor, did she cry uncontrollaby when she found out her balloon was gone? Why do I find such a mean thing so funny?! If for some reason this video isn't loading on your pc click here to see it!
Some of these are pretty simple decorative food gifts and the others are some pretty spiffy jewelry pieces. Check out the full list to see what your mom will love!
Take two very ripe bananas and mash them until they are essentially mush. The more smoothie like, the better. Then add the oats in and mix them together. Keep mixing until you get almost a lumpy paste.
Optional step: Add nuts, almonds, dates, berries, anything to make them tasty.
Next, take a 9x9 pan and lightly grease the bottom. You can use butter, olive oil, or Pam, whatever your preference is. Then take the banana paste mixture, add it into the pan, and shove that bad boy in the oven for about 35-40 minutes.
When the edges are crispy and brown, take the banana baked goodness and let it cool. Once it's cool, chop them up into appropriate sizes and enjoy! .
Hot sauce. Two words that get some mouths watering and make others cringe. Some never leave home without a bottle of the stuff somewhere on them; others fear even brief exposure to a pickled jalapeño on their nachos.
The Daily Meal helps you spice up your weekend cookout or Cinco De Mayo Celebration with cool (and hot!) features on The World's Ten Spiciest Hot Sauces.
Sad to hear the passing of Chris Kelly of Kris Kross. Chris was the Mac Daddy half of the duo that made "Jump" huge in 1992 Doubly sorry to hear that drugs were involved.Check out the full story from ABC News, and the classic backward pants JUMP video below.
The Today Show and Buzzfeed bring you some easy and simple tips to make your morning routine easier and cut down the daybreak hassle. Some are common sense, while others are just kind of... strange.
You normally hear of a star dropping an agent, but this one is the other way around: Steven Tyler's agent, Simon Fuller (yes, the same guy who created American Idol) dropped Steven because his other business reps, especially one lawyer, were just too tought to deal with. The NY Post has a fab writeup...another one of those cool "what happens behind the scenes with the stars" stories.
