Our weekly Better Half Of The Bills feature will be tomorrow (Wednesday) morning this week because of the late game in Detroit. While this is an odd situation, it is a good example of the unseen travel in professional sports.
For example, if the Bills game ends about 10, the team should be out of locker room by 11:30.
About a 30 min bus ride to DTW. 45 min personnel and equipment load onto plane...20 min runway taxi (Big airport), wheels up at 1 or 1:15.
Land in Buffalo about 2:30. Get off plane, and bus to stadium stadium by 3:15.
Since few players have cars are at stadium, wives/friends may pick them up, or Bills may have transportation home arranged. Home in bed for players about 4. Coaches will probably stay at stadium to begin Browns preparation.
So that's why we won't be calling Kaela Carpenter (wife of Bills kicker Dan), early Tuesday. But do listen for her comparisons of Snowvember with her memories of snows in Montana where she and Dan are from.
The same travel schedules happen in hockey as well. I was once able to see the itinerary for a Sabres Western swing. For a 4 game trip I counted 5 plane rides, about 14 bus rides (including to and from game day skates), and lots of late night/early moring hotel check ins.
Just like in being a musician, being on stage or on the field is glamorous and an adrenaline rush. Everything in between, lots of hard work.

Besides shoveling and keeping warm this past week, some Buffalonians (mainly in the Northtowns) had some time on their hands. With all the snow, local theatre veteran Michele Marie Benzin, working for the Visit Buffalo Niagara tourism bureau, just rocked a parody of Frozen's "Let It Go," appropriately naming it "Let It Snow"! Looks like Buffalo has a new anthem!
If you missed last night's American Music Awards, Rob Lucas' Twitter feed will get you caught up on all the highlights and the not-so-good moments of last night's show! I haven't checked in with a blog post about my vocal health recently because I've been able to pop on-the-air here and there and show you how the progress has been. As you've heard, my voice is better, I can now speak like a human being, sometimes with shades of my actual voice, but not nearly long enough to be on the radio. Gonna take time. We'll get there. Thanks for your thoughts. But don't feel bad for me.
Someone recently told me how sad it was to have this happen, and I thanked them for the thought. But this is not a sad situation. It's bad luck…unfortunate…but not sad.
Sad is a person learning how to walk again after a stroke. Someone regaining the use of an arm or leg after a bad fall, or car accident they had no control over. A person fighting a vicious disease that keeps them in pain, or on constant medication. That's sad. I see stories like that every day when I go into speech therapy, and it reminds me of how lucky I am. If you can get up, dress up, and show up...there's nothing to be sad over.
As For Joe at St. Benedict's in Eggertsville would say, "Think about it. It could change the way you view your life!"

As the day went on, we noticed there was one very special listener who had a close relationship with Ingrid, because SHE IS FEATURED IN INGRID's NEW VIDEO!! Check out the incredibly cool vid for AFTERLIFE. It's all about facing your fears...so empowering! And who is the Buffalo Girl? Watch at about the 2:45 mark, for the girl who just wants to look like herself. That's South Buffalo's Maeve Higgins...and we are so proud to have her as a listener, and a new friend! You Go Girl...

The lights go down, the curtain goes up, and you are...paying off your acting tuition debt! The financial road to becoming an actor can put you in debt as much as being a doctor...with less of a guaranteed salary. Magnify Money posts a GREAT read on The Reality Of Six-Figure Debt For An Actor. Keep this in mind the next time you see a show at Shea's, on Broadway, or even Disney.
OMG...The Weather Channel's Mike Seidel is called the Weatherman Of Doom because where he goes, the bad weather follows. But apparently on this live shot, timing got crossed up, and he thought he had enough time to do his business. NOT. BTW, Rob Lucas worked with Mike for a short time in Ocean City, MD in the 80's when Mike was just breaking into weather reporting. We will certainly connect with him on this one...after we see how badly he is disciplined, if at all, by his superiors. Don't wanna rub yellow snow in his face...
