For Goo Goo Dolls front man John Rzeznik planning his wedding day was a piece of cake. The rocker married longtime girlfriend, Melina Gallo, Friday night at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu.
"We've been together a while and I'm not going anywhere and we'd like to start a family. I'd prefer to be married when I have kids," Rzeznik, 48, told PEOPLE.
Episcopal priest and longtime friend Rev. Michael Ralph married the couple under an old oak tree in front of about 120 guests, which included Rzeznik's bandmates. "The whole thing was just about family and friends. It was really beautiful and romantic," said Rzeznik.
Guests noshed on appetizers during cocktail hour and ate roasted chicken, garlic mash potatoes and wild mushroom ravioli for the main course. Gallo looked stunning in an Enzoani gown and Rzeznik opted for a dark green Gucci suit instead of a tuxedo.
Rzeznik, who is currently on tour promoting the Dolls' tenth album, Magnetic, did not sing at the wedding. "We made it perfectly clear that I would not be singing at all at our wedding. Our song was Adele's 'Make You Feel My Love.' I love her version of that song," he said.
The couple are planning a honeymoon in Italy and France after Rzeznik is done touring in the fall. As for how many kids the couple plans to have, Rzeznik said, "We'll start with one and deal with it from there."
This is the second marriage for Rzeznik, who divorced his first wife in 1997 after four years. He started dating Gallo in 2005.
We know what Detroit is going through, and I'm betting deep down most of us wonder, "This could have been Buffalo." or "Could this be Buffalo?" There are about 80,000+ empty buildings in Detroit. A number that seems impossible to fathom, but it's true.
The Weather Channel's Travel division has posted a Modern Ruins Of Detroit pictorial, and as you click through, notice how many similiarities there are to Buffalo. The United Artists Theatre is what Shea's may have looked like without rescue in the late 70's. The empty run down auto manufacturing buildings are much like the Lackawanna Steel Mills. Several other buildings remind us of the Guaranty Building or Ellicott Square downtown.
This will make you very proud of the way we have preserved and used our architecture in Buffalo. We did something another city was unable to. Have fun clicking through, but in a way, it's very disturbing. Looks like the movie set from Escape From New York, Detroit style.

The Wolverine hits theatres this Friday, July 26th and Hugh Jackman wasted no effort getting ripped for his role.
According to the New York Post, Jackman's regimen to get ready for his shirtless scenes required him to go on "a dehydration diet, guzzling up to four gallons of water every day for a week. Then he’d stop drinking all liquid for 24 hours."
Working out three hours a day with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson doesn't hurt either! If you follow Jackman on Twitteryou know he'll post occasional photos of his daily feasts that could feed a family of five. His meals usually consist of salmon, chicken breast and broccoli.
Dehydrating himself helped him get into character and in shape. He jokes that "digesting food" is his main occupation now!
CBS News ran this amazing feature Friday Night, about a man who has been building a theater in his basement since 1959. Not just a room to show movies with some lounge chairs, but something that looks like a mini Shea's or Riviera Theatre. And the inspiration for it all? Something from 1929 that we're betting was built in North Tonawanda! The video is an RLITM must watch!
This is a follow-up to a story we profiled last year, about a doggy daddy helping his pooch's arthritis by taking him for floating sessions in a lake. Sadly, and happily, the story has come to a close...
Dog pictured floating to sleep in owner's arms has died

John Unger and his dog Schoep used to float anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour, depending on the temperature of the water and how Schoep was feeling.
Schoep, the arthritic dog who became an Internet sensation last summer when he was photographed floating peacefully in Lake Superior in his owner’s arms, has passed away.
“I Breathe But I Can't Catch My Breath...” Unger wrote. “Schoep passed yesterday. More information in the days ahead.”
The bond between Schoep and Unger captivated tens of thousands of animal lovers when their photo and story began circulating nearly a year ago. Last July, Unger feared that he was mere days from needing to put then-19-year-old Schoep down. In anticipation of his loss, he asked a friend to take one last photo of them together.
That friend, photographer Hannah Stonehouse Hudson, met them at Lake Superior, where Unger liked to help Schoep float to take pressure off his arthritic joints. She captured a photo of the two of them in the lake and posted it on her Facebook page on Aug. 1.
That image ricocheted around the world and resulted in an outpouring of online donations and support. The help Unger received allowed him to afford treatments to alleviate his dog’s condition.

John Unger always wanted Schoep to experience everything, so he brought him everywhere he went. They regularly took three walks a day.
“As best as I can guess, the treatments have turned back the clock on his life about a year-and-a-half to two years,” Unger told TODAY.com in September 2012. “I’ve taken him for walks on trails that we haven’t been on in three years. He’s not dragging his back legs like he was before. To be able to do that again with him, words can’t even describe the feeling.”
Just this Monday, Unger posted a happy update about Schoep on Facebook along with a photo of the shepherd mix falling asleep in the sunshine, surrounded by bright yellow flowers:
“A fantastic day we had. Up early to walk and go to the beach, eat, nap, go shopping, eat, laundry, go to the beach, eat, nap and one more walk. All without the humidity, that’s what made it fantastic — especially for Schoep!”

The crowd for 7/18's Thursday at Canalside was late arriving, mainly because of the heat. While it was packed as normal when Los Lonely Boys went on around 8, it was about half of what it normally would be when things kicked off at 5:15. Too bad, because many missed what might the greatest opening act EVER EVER EVER in the Canalside or even Thursday at The Square concert series...Randle & The Late Night Scandals.
I wasn't sure what to expect when they hit the stage. You hear some opening acts and instantly think "Unless they make some changes, this will be the biggest gig they ever get." But as soon as Randle & Co hit the first note, the place was just blown away with the best original high energy R&B I've heard in a long, LONG time. Randle, err, Amanda, their lead vocalist simply rocked...knows how to command a stage, having on one-one presence with the audience without delaying/talking too much in between songs. She reminded me of a wispy-almost-tipsy Marisa Tomei. With a geat voice.
Also commanding the stage was a female alto sax player, who very simply fronted a band that sounded soooo close to James Brown's Famous Flames. THAT good. Thanks to Garaud MacTaggart's Buffalo News review, I found out her name was Kimberly Young-Mason. She made me wanna go home and get my sax out of the basement.
In doing more homework on Randle & The Late Night Scandles, I found that they recently went through a few changes in the line-up, adding a new drummer & keyboardist, and playing with a percussionist for th first time ever at the Canalside gig. The result was incredible! You can just tell when musicianians belong together...and as the drummer said to me afterward "Man it seemed to just be flowing of the stage..just flowing!" He was so right...one gig together, and these guys seemed like they were made for each other. So if you've seen Randle before and were less than impressed...see them again with this new lineup. You will be blown away!
Buffalo is the land of 1,000 bands. Lots of lawn fete's and festivals that need groups to fill time. And it's soooo nice to see a band for the first time and feel like a) they have a chance at being something special, and b) they are GREAT musicians who care about their craft, not just about being on stage in front of a ton of people looking to be stars.
If Randle & The Late Night Scandals are playing near you, go see them! And these thoughts ae not just mine, buy verified by the sound guys and production people who have seen nearly every Thursday show since the Square/Harborside/Canalside concept started. They just might have been the best Thursday opening act EVER EVER EVER.
Though there is one thing. Maybe they need a name change? I kept calling them Randle & The Late Night Rascals on the air. Am I the only one to do that? And is it "AND" or "&" after "Randle". Doesn't really matter...as long as it keeps "flowing off the stage!"

Rob sez this quote from Elton John is soooo right on! What do you think?
Elton John doesn't envy today's pop stars. He tells the BBC, ''Unless you have got real gravitas and you have earned your corn it is going to be hard for you to stay sane, it is going to be hard for you to maintain your career and you may end up being a bitter nonentity. I wouldn’t want to be Justin Bieber or any of those young artists, it is tough on them. Television and video have done a lot of damage to music. (Talent shows) propel people into stardom that aren’t ready for it and can’t sustain it and they are as only as good as their next song and I hate that.''
Far from being a ‘man’s’ best friend, it is women who go barking mad for their dogs on holiday. Female dog owners miss their pets more than their partners, friends or family when they are away, they reveal.
We surveyed over 1000 dog owners and found that, while men would miss their partner the most if they were on holiday without them, with 37 percent putting them top, women don’t return the favour. Only 21 percent of women polled said they’d miss their partner most with 37 percent putting their favourite pooch first.
And the canine craze doesn’t end there. Dog owners go to great lengths to keep in touch with their pet while on holiday. As many as 40 percent have called or texted from holiday to check that Fido is OK, while 14 percent have admitted to ‘chatting’ to their dog by phone so that it can hear their voice, while 5 percent have taken it further and had a holiday Skype ‘conversation’ with their dog. For those favouring a more traditional touch, 6 percent have put pen to paper to write their dog a postcard.
The survey also reveals many travellers feel ruff when it comes to jetting off abroad without their four legged friend, with 22 percent of holidaymakers taking a photo of their pooch on holiday. A shocking 3 percent of dog owners admit to having cut their hard earned holiday short and returned home early as they missed their dog too much.
With owners not wanting to be separated from their beloved pets, it’s perhaps not surprising that over half of holidaymakers plan breaks with their pets in mind to ensure they aren’t left at home. One in five dedicated dog owners have never been away without them and 20 percent claim the company of any pet would make for the pawfect companion on holiday, more so than their own children and even their friends.
Dog owners who have stayed in touch with their pets on holiday:
Called or text to see how it is getting on - 40%
Spoken with their pet on the phone - 14%
Sent their pet a postcard - 14%
Added their pet’s name onto the postcard - 5%
Skype - 5%
Video link - 2%

So many things run will run through your mind as you watch this video:

Every decade, new hit songs come out by relatively unknown artists. They climb the charts and tend to get stuck in your head, even if you don’t necessarily like the song. Sometimes, you will never hear from that artist again, and oftentimes you'll forget the name of the person or band that released the single. These songs are known as one-hit wonders.
Rob says, "It's a good list, they've covered a lot of ground from the 60's to Daniel Powter's Bad Day. But it does look like it left out two of the best from the 70's: 'Beach Baby' by First Class and 'The Night Chicago Died' by Paper Lace' were left out."
This morning Rob was talking about alternate routes to tonight's Black Keys show. In case you don't wanna fight traffic, park the car downtown and pick up a Queen City Ferry water taxi from Canalside to the concert venue. It's not the most action filled video in the world, but Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" is nothing less than old-school-turned-new-school fun! It borrows so much from the 70's and 80's...Brothers Johnson's Strawberry Letter 23, Buffalo's Rick James Stone City Band, Chic (yes, that IS Nigel Rodgers playing bass in the video) and the whole vibe of the era.
Happy watching, and listening! Learn more about Daft Punk (did you know they had music out as long as 15 years ago?) from their official page, and their Wiki page (where of course, everything is true!)

Today when the SPCA's Gina Browning visited for her weekly segment, she brought along this eye opening video, showing just how quickly it can get brutally hot inside your car. No they didn't put a dog in a car and let it sweat it out, this is a well done video by a less-than-geeky science guy. It's a great watch, and will truly make you think 3x about leaving a pet or child in the car for even a few seconds while you run into a store.
"Whip It. Whip it good!" Iconic song, with an iconic drum riff. Sad to hear of the passing of former Devo Drummer Alan Mayers, the master of the frenetic drum driving the song.USA Today's Patrick Ryan wrote:
Alan Myers, best known as Devo's drummer of 10 years, died of brain cancer Monday. His death was initially reported on Facebookby jazz musician and friend Myers Ralph Carney.
"He was Devo's best drummer and one of the first people to teach me about jazz," Carney wrote late Tuesday. "An underrated/brilliant drummer," current Devo memberJosh Freese tweetedhours later. "Such an honor playing his parts w/ Devo. Godspeed Human Metronome."
Myers joined Devo in 1976 as the band's third drummer and left a decade later because of creative differences. He was featured on the new wave band's hit single Whip It in 1980, along with classic tunes such as (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction and Freedom of Choice.
