Labor Day weekend...a perfect time for something that puts a smile on your face...GUILTY PLEASURE SONGS! We asked our producers and the host with the (semi-) most to pick out their favorite guilty pleasure songs. (By the way, total RLITM props to Producer Ryan Poole for coming up with this concept and gathering all the videos...great job!) Here's what they said:
The Ralph is one of the best venues for tailgating in the NFL. The expansive parking lot and wide open areas just lend themselves to it, along with the fact that we have just about one of the most collegiate atmospheres in the NFL. Other cities have far too many limos and people heading into suites wearing suits and ties.
Many women may feel a need for a new pair of stilettos, but most of us are wasting the money we spend on heels.
According to new research from money-saving websitewww.VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, most women wear only a quarter of the shoes they purchase, despite the fact that we spend a large portion of our paychecks on new ones.
The study polled 2,352 women, ages 18 and over, from across the United Kingdom on women’s spending habits when it came to footwear. The results reveal that the average woman owns 20.1 pairs of shoes, spends $38 per pair and has a shoe collection worth an estimated $760. Considering the price of a Jimmy Choo can cost well over $1,000, this sounds quite reasonable. But of all the shoes they own, they wear less than a quarter on a regular basis.
Why don’t we wear them — well duh, because they’re not comfortable (as if we didn’t realize that in the store before we brought them home).
The main reason women aren’t wearing all their shoes is that they just don’t feel good — 64 percent of women claimed this as the No. 1 reason for not wearing all of their heels.
The top reasons why women don’t wear their shoes are as follows:
1. Too uncomfortable (too tight on feet/too high heels) (64 percent)
2. Hard to match with an outfit (55 percent)
3. Scared to damage/were very expensive (41 percent)
4. Were given as a gift and don't like them (37 percent)
5. Didn't like them as much when I got them home (21 percent)
The summer unofficially kicked off with Starry Night in the Garden 2013. Thanks to all the restaurants, wineries, and volunteers who helped, and especially Ginny Blackmore, Youngblood Hawke, and Sarah Bareilles for making it a fabulously perfect night.
David Swarts, president/CEO, and Erin Grajek, marketing director, of the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens joined RLITM and left the studio with a nice check.
Johnny, Robby, and Mike put on a personal Star Lounge performance for lucky listeners during their soundcheck Saturday afternoon at Darien Lake! A truly once in a lifetime experience! We did some great old school Buffalo stories, talked about their first tv appearance back in 1987 on Randi's Cats Pajamas (We posted the vid on Friday), and one of our listeners was actually Johnny's second cousin! Soooo Buffalo!!! They also told of how their new single, and possibly greatest love song they've ever written "Come to Me" almost didn't make it on the album. Check out the photo gallery on Facebook.com/mystar1025!

We really got to know Rian Lindell's family through our Better Half Of The Bills feature. His wife Johna was one of the main reasons the interviews with Bills wives came off so well, and from the beginning, one of the things he stressed was how an NFL football career can end so quickly, affecting not only the player but the family. That came true when Rian was released earlier this week. At the time, we said he was too good a kicker to not be picked up by someone, and it took less than 36 hours for Tampa Bay to sign him. Rian showed how classy he is by putting out the following note:
Thank you, Bills fans, for all the support I've received over the years and over the last few days. I always tried to remember the people I represented every time I put the Bills uniform on. Over the years, I've truly enjoyed hearing the many stories Bills fans had to share from Sundays at the Ralph.
I'll never forget the feeling of driving into the parking lot on gameday and seeing the excitement of fans young or old, warm or cold, going through their pregame routines in anticipation of a Bills victory. What I came to understand over the years was the genuine passion Western New York and Bills nation has for their Bills, and I can't tell you how appreciative I am to have been a part of it for a decade.
I also want to thank Mr. Wilson and each and every person in the organization for 10 great years together. You made my family and I feel like we were truly a part of your family, and we were proud to "circle the wagons" with you.
Thank you, Buffalo, and while I begin a new and exciting chapter of my career, I look forward to our paths crossing again down the road.
The singer’s injuries are extensive: fractured lower spine, 15 stitches to his face, three broken teeth and substantial bruising. Click for the full story from Radio.com, then listen below for a flashback from when Alex was in studio and at STARRY NIGHT IN THE GARDEN in 2010.
Trey Barrineau of USA TODAY reports It was a close call for the screen and stage veteran.
Dick Van Dyke is doing OK after he was rescued from his burning sports car on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.
According to TMZ, the actor, 87, was extracted from his Jaguar by Jason Pennington, who pulled over when he saw a car engulfed in smoke on the freeway and discovered that the person trapped inside was Van Dyke.
The Associated Press reported that Van Dyke required no medical treatment and was not issued a citation.
Van Dyke's wife, Arlene, tweeted that the star was OK after the incident, the Los Angeles Times reported. She included a Vine video of the aftermath that shows the burned-out shell of the car and Van Dyke talking with officers from the California Highway Patrol.
Heading back to school this fall, chances are you've bought the typical, boring folders and notebooks. But don't forget about downloading a few apps to make learning a little more exciting because hey, you're on your phone in class anyway, right?! Gurl.com has compiled 12 MUST HAVE back to school apps. Rob recommends Grammar Guide and SAT Vocab -- of course he would, the English nitpicker!
While catching up after being out of town for a week, I saw of the egregious, yet in today's state of broadcasting, not surprising, error made by MSNBC in mapping out the President's New York State swing that starts in Buffalo on Thursday. Thanks to one of my favorite sites, FTVLive(run by formerBuffalonian Scott Jones, more on that later) I was able to see the fab map that some likely newbie graphics person, or possibly an intern (it is vacation time, and quality backups are rare anymore, even on national TV) put together to layout President Obama's journey.
According to MSNBC, he should be able to drive to all three cities in about 45 minutes, with Binghamton being pretty close to where Albany really is, Syracuse being just East of there, near the Mass line, and Buffalo a little North of there, kind of on the way to Fort Drum. Man, I soooo wanna blame this one on Martin Bashir, who I think is the most slanted, weasley host on TV. But I can't...the graphics on a show are entirely someone else's responsibility, probably the afformentionedintern or graphics person. But it doesn't make it any less embarrasing for a netowrk that is in the basement for ratings.
As for FTVLive.com, it is truly a MUST READ for those who wanna know the behind the scenes happenings that result in what we see on TV, or in some cases what happens in the decision rooms of networks because of what transpired on TV. A lot of it will may surprise you, and maybe not in a good way. The business can be very brutal. The site was started here in Buffalo byScott Jones, a veteran of local Buffalo TV wars, and is now one of the most reputable sites for media insiders, and those who wish to be. Scott now runs the operation out of his Florida home which allows him to pursue his golf career. That's not a retirement joke...he's a very accomplished golfer. Check out his site, and shoot him a note from Buffalo!
The Erie County Fair is on through Sunday August 18th and there’s plenty of time to taste some unique foods! Whether you eat traditional treats or let your taste buds wander, the fair has something for everyone.
This year’s new foods include:
Deep Fried Bacon Cinnamon Roll
Alligator and Shark Kabobs/Nugget Bites
Deep Fried Oversized Gummy Bears
Deep Fried Rice Krispies
Jumbo Smoked Turkey Legs
Pig Butt on a Stick
We’ve tried a few of these obscure foods and added Pig Butt on a Stick to our list of fav’s! Surprisingly Pig Butt was pretty good! One of the few foods not deep fried, very tender and tasted no different than pork marinated for a little added flavor!
Deep fried Alligator and Shark Kabobs both surprisingly taste like chicken!
Unique must tries include Deep fried garlic mashed potatoes on a stick, Mac-n-cheese, ravioli, and manicotti…they’re all FANTASTIC! What can’t they fry nowadays?
More traditional fair favorites such as the hot dogs, corn dogs and Italian sausage from John and Brenda’s stand are to die for! Their all homemade secret recipe has people coming back every year for more.
From construction to consumption, Ribbon Fries are a must have novelty! The trick is to find the stand that makes them just right for you; crunchy or softer in texture.
Don't skip out on dessert, it's a cheat day! Look for the hot pink tent if you are in the mood for Kimmy's Cupcakes! The awesome designs and flavors are a treat like no other you've seen or tasted before.
Deep fried Rice Krispy Treats come covered with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar on a stick, but are better eaten with a fork!
This year’s Erie County Fair makes it easy for fairgoers to find their favorite items with the Food/Shopping Finder App! Don’t waste hours wandering to find John and Brenda’s, download the App here!
I stumbled onto the Rock Show Critique blog while researching some of the area shows I was hosting / attending. I'm the type that likes to know what the setlist will be, any spots in shows that are good for hitting the beer stand or just heading for the parking lot to beat traffic. (Funny how I'll leave a concert early, but rarely do it for a sporting event.)
Anyway, I'm not really sure who heads up this blog, but they do a pretty good job of reviewing even some of the smaller shows in the area, and some that don't hit Buffalo, but do make Canandaigua, Syracuse, and Erie. I'm not saying you'll agree with all the reviews...we all look at concerts in different ways...but it is good reading!
Before summer's over, Sue O'Neil reccommends you cool off with some of these delicious popsicles! Buzzfeed.com has everything from Strawberry Cheesecake, Sour Cherry & Vanilla Yogurt Pop to Campari Citrus Popsicles. And of course for the grown-up's, try Blood Orange Margarita popsicles or even get your shine on with Blueberry Moonshine!

Now the gurus are ending their long run and we're left to fend for ourselves! But Stacy and Clinton won't be leaving us without a last season where they tackle some of the biggest disasters, everything from a woman stuck in the 70's to one woman who can't stop emulating Julia Roberts character in "Pretty Woman"! Get Your Sneak Peak at the Last Season!
I'm so excited to be a part of the 6th Annual Tops 5k & 10k Run and Walk, August 24th at Tops Headquarters at Spindrift and Main in Williamsville. I've been a part of many community events over the years...you probably have too, and the Tops Run and Walk is one of my favorite because it's so well organized, user-friendly, and benefits Roswell Park.
It truly has something for everyone, whether you're a serious runner going for time, or walking with a group, having a good time while you raise money to support cancer research. There tons of awards, and one of the best after-race parties! All it takes is just a $25 donation to get rolling...but you'll probably collect way more pledges than that from your friends...or maybe they'll wanna join you, and start a team!
Would The Office have been the same show with Eric Stonestreet as Kevin, or John Cho as Jim? Check out auditon tapes that are being released as part of The Office's final season on DVD. It kinda shows you why things happen the way they do, and just as important, why things don't happen. For example: Lisa Kudrow lost out on an SNL role to Victoria Jackson. Bad for her at the time, but if she would have gotten that gig, she would have never been able to try out for Friends!
And it's not too far from here, about 6 hours away, in Wyomissing, PA, just Northwest of Philadelphia.
The Associated Press says Swift's childhood home in Pennsylvania is on the market, but fans looking to "Begin Again" in Pennsylvania may be too late. Century 21 Gold agent Lisa Tiger says the six-bedroom home in Wyomissing, near Reading, is in contract and expected to close this month. Swift's parents had rented the home for many years before moving to Nashville when the singer was 14.
The Classical revival home boasts a grand staircase and a sun-filled study where Swift played guitar, according to the $799,500 listing.
The official real estate listing with tons of photos can be found at Century 21.
Paula Patton, Robin Thicke's wife, is high profile right now because of her role in 2 Guns. And like any great wife...she transformed her husband into what he is today. Robin credits her for his success, "She is the secret, of course. I don't think I wanted to be committed. I wanted to be a rock star and live the fast life. But she is just gorgeous and she was my mom and my teacher." Check out this pictorial of them over the years (however few it has been) from Essence.com. Can you tell us what Robin was thinking with that LONG HAIR?!
So how do artists make $$$ from their work? It used to be just touring and retail record sales. It's gotten much more confusing in the digital era. Robby Takac posted this article from The Atlantic on his Facebook page. Incredibly interesting. Incredibly confusing. Even for the musician. All Robby could say was "Yikes!"
OMG...as if we didn't know it already, Mariah Carey's entire life is one big production. Check out the bloopers from a promotional shot for her song BEAUTIFUL. Rob sez "If I was Nick Cannon, I could take about 30 seconds of this before I was on the phone with a divorce lawyer."
