Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards sat down for an interview recently with , the magazine. Rolling Stone
He was promoting his upcoming solo album, "Crosseyed Heart," which comes out on September 18.
But in the course of the interview, he had some pretty harsh things to say about rap music and heavy metal too.
Here are some excerpts, from Rolling Stone...
On rap: "What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there. All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they're happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can't tell one note from another."
On heavy metal: "Millions are in love with Metallica and Black Sabbath. I just thought they were great jokes."
He even took a shot at the Beatles "Sgt. Peppers" album, calling it "a mishmash of rubbish..."
Here's the most amazing thing - that the interviewer was able to understand what he was saying. Keith is not known for giving the most intelligible interviews.

Yesterday, a federal judge vacated the four-game suspension that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell threw at New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the now infamous Deflategate Case.
That means that Tom Terrific will be suited up and on the field next Thursday night in Foxboro for the season opener - and for the hanging of the team's latest Super Bowl banner.
As you might expect, the reaction is missed. Some folks are absolutely delighted. Others, not so much.
But here's one guy who's delirious with joy.
New England tight end Rob Gronkowski, who posted this picture to Instagram after the ruling was announced.
Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who refuses to issue wedding licenses to gay couples, was jailed yesterday on contempt charges.
That's not funny.
But I'm sorry, this meme is hilarious.
Take a look - and tell me it didn't make you laugh.
This is the most bizarre viral video ever.
Okay, maybe that's hyperbole, but it's had over 5 million hits since being posted on August 30.
It's so simple and so stupid. A guy found a crate in some sort of store filled with squeezable plastic ducks. He squeezed it, and as the air came back in, it made a predictable noise.
But then he pressed down on a bunch of the ducks, and the sound that happened is reminiscent of any action movie where a few guys get tossed off a cliff or the top of a skyscraper.
Bet you can't watch it just once.
Chris, a six-year-old ram who was rescued in the Australian outback recently, had his fleece shorn for the first time ever this week.
When all was said and done, the shearing yielded about 42 kilos of fleece - that's almost 90 pounds.
That's enough wool to make about 40 sweaters.
When he was found, he was struggling under all that weight. The folks at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said his personality changed overnight.
So if you're interested in having everyone talk about you at your Labor Day barbecue, this could be the thing for you.
The video here is called "How to Skin a Watermelon."
Following the methods demonstrated, you'll be able to pull the outer shell - the green and white stuff - off a watermelon, leaving only the juicy red part.
There's a trick - I mean, a legit trick - to it.
And the end result - a watermelon-shaped lump of juicy red part - looks a little creepy.
Creepy like if you took a picture in bad lighting, it could be the star of a horror movie.
First off, let's just make it clear: no one got hurt.
Well, not physically. I'm sure there's some wounded pride here.
On Wednesday, Ruben Tejada of the New York Mets got an inside-the-park home run at Citi Field, with a little help from the opposing team, the Philadelphia Phillies.
It was a sort of blooper line drive to right field, and Domonic Brown missed it, the ball dropping under his glove and rolling to the wall.
Unfortunately, Brown's momentum carried him over the infield wall and he flipped out of the playing area.
Because no one was around to field the ball, Tejada managed to score.
Brown's okay - he did leave the game with concussion-like symptoms - and everyone's got a fun story to tell.
Well, I guess the "fun" depends on what side of the story you're on...
Just Ridiculous Ruben Tejada

Lost Frequencies' first song (the remake of Easton Corbin's Are You With Me) ended up stuck in my head for weeks when it first came out.
Same goes for this next song. It's already top 10 all over the place around the world...

Get ready for the show with a One Direction retrospective!
HBO's is in its tenth season of following one NFL team through its training camp as the players get ready for the full season. Hard Knocks
This year, the show focuses on the Houston Texans.
Vince Wilfork, one of the biggest defensive linemen around, signed with the Texans in the off-season when the New England Patriots opted not to sign him up for another season.
The folks caught Vince showing up at practice wearing short-legged bib overalls, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. Hard Knocks
And that's it.
The video will make you laugh - especially when his coach catches a glimpse.
