American Airlines is cutting 13,000 jobs as part of a five-year plan to save $3 billion per year. The 13,000 cuts include 1,400 management and support staff, 400 pilots, 2,300 flight attendants, 4,600 maintenance men and women and 4,200 fleet service employees

Madonna is spending 12 hours a day rehearsing for her Super Bowl halftime show. A source tells Perez Hilton, "Madonna has been brutal in rehearsals. Although they've been having a laugh, they've been doing up to 12 hours in a New York studio. She's saying they can sleep after the Super Bowl. She's involved in every aspect of the show, including Nicki and M.I.A's outfits. Nicki has been telling pals it's the most grueling thing she has ever done and wouldn't expect anything else, calling it an 'epic learning experience'."
 
 

A new survey by the marketing film 11mark reveals that 75% of BlackBerry owners make phone calls while going to the bathroom. Other findings:
- 87% of Droid users have used their phone in the bathroom compared to 84% of BlackBerry users and 77% of iPhone users
- 25% of people don't go to the bathroom without their phone
- 20% of men and 13% of women have taken work-related calls in the bathroom
- more than 90% of people, between 28 and 35, will return a call or text while sitting on the toilet
- 16% of people shop on their smartphones while going to the bathroom


A new survey by the National Retail Federation reveals that U.S. shoppers plan to spend an average of $126 on their sweethearts and loved ones for Valentine's Day. Other findings:
- 19% of shoppers plan to buy jewelry for their significant others. That's up from 17% last year. Total spending on jewelry is expected to reach $4.1 billion, up from $3.5 billion last year
- 50% of consumers intend to buy candy for Valentine's Day
- 36% of lovers plan to buy flowers and dinner out for Valentine's Day
